William Edward Cornelious Jr., 78 of Little Rock, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away on Monday, July 7 at The Blossoms of West Dixon Assisted Living Center in Little Rock.
William was born on August 14, 1946 in Beedeville, Arkansas to William Edward Cornelious Sr. and Lular Mae Alcorn-Cornelious.
William received his education from the Jonesboro Public School System. He was a 1965 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
After graduating High School, "Buck Jr." as William was affectionately known, was drafted into the United States Air Force, where he served for 2 years and received an honorable discharge.
After being discharged from the military, William relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where he lived and worked for many years. Consolidated Freightways of Kansas City employed him.
After returning to Arkansas in the mid 1990's, after having resided in Kansas City for many years, William settled in Little Rock, Arkansas and went to work with the Janitorial staff at Baker Elementary School. He worked there for more than 20 years before retiring in 2015.
William met and married Bertha Griffin in 1965. To this union three children were born. William Edward Cornelious III, Jeannie Inez Cornelious and Marcella Cornelious.
His son William E. Cornelious III, His parents: William E. Cornelious Sr. and Lular Mae Cornelious; four brothers: Roy Cornelious, Marvin Cornelious, Chris Cornelious and Albert Cornelious; and a sister Verna Cornelious Smith all preceded William in death.
Survivors are: two daughters: Jeannie Inez Cornelious and Marcella Cornelious; two brothers: Reverend Walter (Willie Mae) Cornelious of San Antonio, TX; and Reverend Emmanuel (Judy) Cornelious of Little Rock, AR; three sisters: Viola Cornelious, Missionary Addie Miller and Catherlean Gantt all of Jonesboro, AR; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday morning, July 19 from 10 AM until 11 AM at Miller's Temple Church of God in Christ, 524 North Church Street in Jonesboro. Funeral services will began promptly at 11 AM at Miller's Temple with interment to follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Shoffner (Newport) by C.J.
