Shirley Ann Williams passed away on December 17 at Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock after a long illness.
Shirley was born on June 7, 1953, in Moro County (Brinkley, Arkansas) as the fifth of eleven siblings to DC Stigall and Ozell Miranda Carolyn Thomas-Stigall.
From an early age, Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She became a devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she sang gracefully in the choir.
Shirley received her early education in the Brinkley Public Schools and attended Marian Anderson High School.
On May 9, 1986, Shirley married James Lee "Pedro" Williams in Little Rock. Together, they shared companionship for more than fifty years.
Shirley's love for helping people and children was evident in her work as a Custodian in the Little Rock Public School System, where she dedicated twenty-two years of service.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, D.C. Stigall; her son, Tezell Porter Jr.; three brothers, Johnny Stigall, C.L. Stigall, and D.L. Stigall; and two sisters, Bertha Stigall-Henly and Irma Jean Williams.
She is survived by her husband, James Lee "Pedro" Williams of Little Rock, AR; her daughter, Shirley Latrice (Mario) Williams of Little Rock, AR; grandsons, Zaquan (Raizha) Burl and Lequan (Taleah) Burl, both of Little Rock, AR; granddaughter, Anniya Williams of Little Rock, AR; great-grandson, Zaquan Burl Jr. of Little Rock, AR; great-granddaughters, Zaleah Burl, Harmony Burl, and Zalonnie Burl, all of Little Rock, AR; godson, Michael Walker of Little Rock, AR; goddaughter, Shandrea "NuNu" Burrell of Little Rock, AR; her mother, Ozella Thomas-Stigall of Little Rock, AR; brothers, Bobby Stigall and Willie Stigall, both of Little Rock, AR; sisters, Nola Mae Stigall of Detroit, MI, Ruthie Stigall-Oliver, Martha Stigall, and Lisa Stigall, all of Little Rock, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, January 2, from 5 PM until 7 PM at C.J. Williams Funeral Directors Chapel, 124 South Main Street in Brinkley. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 3, at 2 PM at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 911 North New York Avenue in Brinkley, with Pastor Billy Simmons serving as eulogist. Interment will follow at Brinkley Memorial Park, East Maple Street in Brinkley, under the direction of C.J.
