Rosetta "Rose" Jackson Cubit, age 74, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Augusta, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, February 4 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
Rosetta was born on February 12, 1951, in Fitzhugh, Arkansas, to James L. and Ella B. Jackson. She grew up surrounded by family and faith, attending Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church alongside her parents and siblings. She accepted Christ at an early age, a commitment that would guide her throughout her life.
Rose attended Carver High School in Augusta, graduating with the class of 1969. Faith was a cornerstone of her life. While living in Texas, she was a member of Faith Friendship Church under the leadership of Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III. Before relocating to Texas, she worshiped at Barker Memorial Cathedral of Praise Church of God in Christ, led by Bishop John Mark Johnson.
Shortly after graduating from high school, Rose moved to Kansas City, Missouri. There, she met and married Benny Cubit Sr. Their union was blessed with three sons-Benny III, Byron, and Christopher-who became the center of her heart. Rose's devotion to Christ influenced every aspect of her life, including her professional career in the healthcare field, where she worked until her retirement. After retiring, she moved to Texas to be closer to her sons.
Rosetta found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She cherished family cookouts and was known for sharing her love of music by singing at gatherings. She took pleasure in returning to Arkansas to visit loved ones and relive fond memories in Fitzhugh, where she grew up. Rose was also an enthusiastic sports fan, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and, when not rooting for them, supporting the Dallas Cowboys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James, and Ella B. Paige-Jackson; brothers James Jr., Charlie, and Barry Jackson; sisters Judy and Kathy Jackson; and her daughter-in-law, Shirlester Cubit.
Rosetta is survived by her three sons: Benny Cubit III, Byron (Latonia) Cubit, and Christopher Cubit, all of Dallas, Texas. She leaves behind three granddaughters-Victoria Cubit, BeAshley Cubit, and Breanica Cubit-and three grandsons: Tyler (Ariana) Cubit, Byron Cubit Jr., and Timothy Cubit. Four great-granddaughters also survive her-Aubrey, Jameria, Layla, and Brooklyn-and one great-grandson, Tyler Cubit Jr., all of Dallas, Texas.
Her surviving siblings include four brothers: Lester Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri; Bobby (Carolyn) Jackson of Augusta, Arkansas; Billy (Renee) Jackson of Columbia, Missouri; and Jimmy Jackson of Augusta, Arkansas. Four sisters also survive her: Emma Jackson of Upland, California; Mildred (Larry) Brown of Augusta, Arkansas; Mary L. Walker of Kansas City, Missouri; and Martha (Lorenzo) Pryor of Augusta, Arkansas. Additionally, she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
