Robert Lee "Bob" Palton, age 82, of Biscoe, passed away on Thursday, January 22 at Forrest City Medical Center in Forrest City, Arkansas.
Bob was born on November 18, 1943, in Biscoe, Arkansas, to George Palton and Estella Johnson Palton. He was the sixth child and youngest son in his family.
Bob received his early education in the Biscoe public schools. He began working at a young age, developing a strong and steadfast work ethic that he maintained throughout his life.
Bob was a resolute member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Biscoe, under the leadership of Reverend Willie Brown. He served faithfully on the Deacon Board and as a member of the Finance Committee. Previously, he was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Brasfield under Reverend W.L. Barnett.
Bob was employed by Lamar Harvey Family Farms of Des Arc for over 30 years. He also worked for Weaver and Bailey Construction Company in Little Rock for several years. As a trained concrete finisher, he contributed to the construction of numerous roads and bridges throughout central and southern Arkansas.
Affectionately known as "Bobby Baby" or "Bobby Love" by his family and friends, Bob married Julia Mae Wash in 2001. Together, they created a loving, blended family for almost 40 years.
Bob was preceded in death by his son Billy Lee Berry, his parents George and Estella Palton, and four siblings: Georgia Lee Yancey, Emma Jean Williams, Cophus Lee Palton, and Nathaniel "Jam-Up" Palton.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Julia Mae Palton of Biscoe, AR; daughters Barbara Palton of Chicago, IL, Martha Palton and Shirley Palton both of Biscoe, AR, Denise Palton and Victoria Palton of DeValls Bluff, AR; Tina Palton of Lonoke, AR; and Dewanda Walker of Conway, AR; sons Michael Simmons of Conway, AR; and Emmanuel (Charisse) Palton of Biscoe, AR; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Ulessly Palton of Kansas City, MO; sisters Lottie B. McCullough and Maxine Jones of Biscoe, AR; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 11 AM at the DeValls Bluff School Auditorium and Community Center, located at 711 East Sycamore Street in DeValls Bluff. Reverend Scipio Woods will serve as eulogist. Interment will follow on Monday, February 9 at 11 AM at White County Memorial Gardens, 6054 Eastline Road in Searcy. Arrangements are by C.J.
