Phillip Perkins, age 73, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and formerly of Cotton Plant, passed away on Wednesday, April 22 at Hospice Home Care Center in Little Rock.
Affectionately known as "Woodman," Phillip was born on January 23, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Marie Perkins and Jesse L. Bracy.
He attended Cotton Plant Public Schools and graduated from Cotton Plant High School in 1971.
At a young age, Phillip accepted Christ at Taylor's Chapel United Methodist Church in Cotton Plant.
After completing high school, Phillip moved to Little Rock, where he established himself as a self-made entrepreneur. He operated a Handy Man service for many years, and was known for his ability to fix, repair, or build anything.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Perkins (Napolean) Hatten, and Jessie L. Bracy, as well as four siblings: Donald Perkins, Mildred Chapple, Janice Addison, and Annette Bracy-Easter.
He is survived by four children: Clarissa Motton of Houston, TX; Veronica (Maurice) Adams of Houston, TX; Latasha Dockery of North Little Rock, AR; and Mario Bonner of Little Rock, AR. Phillip also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many siblings: Phyllis Perkins, Tony Perkins, Debye Perkins, Reginald (Elizabeth) Perkins, Robbie Arbor, William Hatten, Victor Hatten, Henri Hatten, Jessie Bracy, June (Sammy) Boyd, Gloria Alexander, Amy Daniels, Stevie Bracy, and Tiffany Bracy. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends also survives him.
A service in Phillip's honor will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 2:00 PM at Ash Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located at 114 McMurtry Street in Cotton Plant, AR. Minister Veronica Adams will serve as eulogist. Interment will follow at Morning Star Cemetery in Cotton Plant, under the direction of C.J.
