Paul Lovell Halliburton Sr. 86 of Brinkley, passed away on Tuesday, August 18 at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Paul was born March 29, 1940 in Marvell, Araknsas to Elijah Halliburton and Sylvia Mosley Halliburton.
Paul was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Brinkley, Arkansas for more than 39 years, where he served as a Deacon, Superintendent of Sunda School, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Leader. He had previously been a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Brinkley for 9 years.
Paul received his education from the Clarendon Public Schools. He was a 1958 graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Clarendon, Arkansas. He then went on to attend AM&N College in Pine Bluff for 2 years.
Paul went on to enlist into the United States Army, where he served faithfully and received an honorable discharge. He was a Mason and a member of Providence Lodge #36 in Brinkley for many years.
Paul married Sarah Chothen October 25, 1964 and to this union six children were born.
Paul would go on to work for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1971 until he retired in 2001. He went to work for Mid-Delta Transportation services for 5 years before fully retiring.
His parents Elijah and Sylvia Halliburton and a sister Elijah Halliburton-Crumity all preceded Paul in death.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years Sarah Halliburton of Brinkley, AR; two sons: Paul (Sandra) Halliburton Jr. of Indian Trail, NC; and Byron Halliburton of Huntsville, AL; four daughters: Sylvia Halliburton of Brinkley, AR; Diane (Robert) Jimmerson of Little Rock, AR; Renetta (William) Stigall of New Market, AL and Annetta (Corey) Doolittle of Ashburn, VA; fourteen grandchildren and a great grandchild; two brothers: James (Kanisha) Halliburton of Wheatley, AR; and Charles (Lawanna) Halliburton of Las Vegas, NV; three sisters: Eunice (Marvin) Clemmons of San Antonio, TX; Vashti Griffin of Columbia, SC and Ethel Smith of Chicago, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday evening August 29 from 6 until 7 PM at C. J. Williams Funeral Directors Chapel, 124 South Main Avenue in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held on Sunday morning, August 30 at 10 AM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Pastor Joseph Lee officiating. Interment will take place at Brinkley Memorial Park Cemetery in Brinkley by C.J. The pallbearers are Derrick Banks, Derrick Smith, Rudy Ramey, Keith Halliburton, Eric Dilworth and Dewayne Banks.
