Mary Ann Saxton-Hooks, 70, of Little Rock passed away on Monday, July 29, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

Mary was born on November 19, 1953, in Des Arc, Arkansas to Arburn Saxton and Maude Howell-Saxton.

Mary received her education from the Des Arc School District. She was a proud 1971 graduate of Des Arc High School.

Mary was a faithful member of The Church at Gaines Street for more than 6 years. During her time, here, she served on the Mission Ministries/Outreach Ministries, Voices of Gaines Street, Seasoned Saints Ministry and Women Ministries. She had previously been a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Little Rock for over 20 years. While growing up in Biscoe, she and her family attended St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (Beulah/Upper Hill Community).

In 1987, Mary relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she lived and worked for more than nine years before returning to Arkansas in 1996.

Mary was united in holy matrimony to Curtis Hooks on May 16, 1998.

Mary work as the Medical Records Clerk at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock for four years before retiring in 2004. She had previously worked at NuVal Financial in Little Rock for several years.

Her parents Auburn Saxton and Maude Saxton; and her siblings: Robert Saxton, Benola Renee Saxton-Abrams and William Saxton, all proceeded Mary in death.

Survivors are her: husband of 26 years Curtis Hooks of Little Rock, AR; four sons: Douglas Saxton of Beebe, AR, Larry "Corey" Minor Jr., Brian Hooks and Antonio Cook all of Little Rock, AR; three daughters: Tonya Hooks, Tamara Hooks and Constance Hooks all of Little Rock, AR; seven grandchildren: Tiara Gilmore, Tre Minor, Kayla Sanders, Marquitta Witt, Cameron Johnson, Alex Henderson, Lacretia Brooks; seven great grandchildren: Kailey Gilmore, Jace Loudermilk, Karson Loudermilk, Ky 'Lin Green, Marcell Sanders Jr., Kaylee Sanders and Malakai Sanders; four brothers: Anthony Saxton of Beebe, AR; Reverend Jerry (Clara) Saxton of North Little Rock, AR; Larry Saxton of Biscoe, AR, and Michael Brown of Little Rock, AR; four sisters: Hazel (William) Luckett and Lucinda Saxton both of Milwaukee, WS, Emma Saxton of Little Rock, AR, and Nora Jean (Bishop Sylvester) Swanigan of DeValls Bluff, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, August 9 from 6 until 8 PM at the Church at Gaines Street, 1601 South Gaines Street in Little Rock. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10 at 10:00 AM at The Church at Gaines Street with Pastor J Barrington Minix officiating.
