Marion Valentine

Marion "Ronnie" Valentine, 76 of Augusta, passed away on Sunday morning, October 11 at his home in Augusta.

Marion was born October 8, 1950 in Gregory, Arkansas to Shawnee Valentine and Isdee Lockwood Valentine.

"Ronnie" as Marion was lovingly known, was raised in Gregory and attended Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Marion attended the Augusta Public School System. He was a 1970 graduate of Carver High School in Augusta. After graduating high school he relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where he earned a CDL.

After returning to Arkansas, Marion went to work for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation for several years. He then went to work for Gregory Farms for more than 10 years before retiring.

His daughter Shaiana Valentine; his parents: Shawnee and Isdee Valentine; seven siblings: Harzell Valentine, Earlene Valentine, Paula Jean Valentine Armstrong, Sonny Valentine, Darlene Valentine Adams, Tulsa Valentine and Nellie Mae Valentine all preceded Marion in death.

Survivors are: two sons: Ronnie Childress of Newport, AR and Shawnee Valentine of Dallas, TX; four daughters: Lisa Tillman and Kesa (Jovan) Holmon both of Newport, AR; Andrea Mallory of Lafayette, LA; and Charmane Murphy of Cleveland, OH; 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; four brothers: Henry Valentine Sr., Johnny Valentine and Alvin Valentine all of Augusta, AR; and Calvin Valentine of Dewitt, AR; two sisters: Janie Johnson and Lula Mae Valentine both of Augusta, AR; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, October 24 at 10:00 AM at Holy Ghost Academy Church of God in Christ, 927 South 4th Street in August. Interment will take place at Buckeye Cemetery in Gregory by C.J.
