Link Hubbard Jr. 69, of Cotton Plant passed away on Saturday December 13, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Link was born on July 4, 1956, to Link Hubbard Sr. and Rosie Mae Seargent-Hubbard in Dumas, Arkansas.
Link received his education from the Dumas Public Schools and was a 1974 graduate of Dumas High School. He later went on to enroll in AM&N college in 1974. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in agriculture education from UAPB in 1979. Throughout the years he had also earned some hours toward a master's degree. He was also a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity for many years.
Link was a member of Trice Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Cotton Plant since 1989, where he served as church Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Director, member of the CWR District, and teacher at the CWR District Conference. He would also go to Woodruff County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center once a month to have Sunday School with some of the residences.
He was formerly a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta before going Trice Chapel. While growing up in Dumas, he was a member and baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church #2 in Backgate, Arkansas.
Link's career as an Educator spanned for a total of 30 years from teaching Agriculture, to coaching Children Basketball, Football and Track teams with both the Augusta School District & Cotton Plant School Districts.
Link was regularly active and served his local community very well. He served on the Cotton Plant Fire Department as a Firefighter and later as Fire Chief, Head of the Cotton Plant Water Department and as a member of the Cotton Plant Beautification Committee.
Link was united in matrimony to Betty McIntosh in 1979.
His parents Link Hubbard Sr and Rosie Hubbard, and a sister Joyce Hubbard all preceded Link in death.
Survivors are his wife of 46 years Betty McIntosh-Hubbard of Cotton Plant, AR , his son Rabian (Tasha) McIntosh of Arlington, TX; his daughters: Candice (Rashod) Howell of Pine Bluff, AR and Kimberly (Charles) Mitchner of Memphis, TX; grandchildren: Kamaria Palmer of Huntsville, AL; Joshua McIntosh, Montrell McIntosh, Kristian McIntosh all of Arlington, TX; Michael Smith, Mya Mitchner, Kalia Mitchner, Colin Mitchner all of Memphis, TN; Malachi Craig, Kenya Howell, Genesis Howell, Elijah Howell all of Pine Bluff, AR; his brother Joe (Cecilia) Hubbard of Little Rock, AR; sisters: Obelia (Johhny Geans Sr.) Hubbard-Covington and Sharon (Curtis) Hubbard- Moyer both of Madison, WI; Tina (Owen Griffin) Boss of Edgewater, FL; In Laws: Greg (Rose) Carter of Camden, AR; Rickey Carter of Chidester, AR; and Sander Brewer of Rison, AR and a host of nieces, nephew, cousin and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, at 11 AM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Reverend Lamont Swanigan serving as eulogist. Interment will take place at Ebenezer Cemetery in Cotton Plant by C.J,.
