June Corliss Akins

June Corliss Akins, 74 of Augusta passed away on Thursday, December 26 at Unity Health White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas.

June was born June 14, 1950, in McCrory, Arkansas to Fletcher Hall and Hazel Nichols.

June accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized and became faithful member of the Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Patterson, Arkansas.

June attended McCrory School District. She was a graduate of Brown High School in McCrory.

June was united in holy matrimony to Larry Akins from March 5, 1972. To this union 4 children were born.

June was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 30 years. She cared for so many people in the community. She had previously been employed at the Shoe Factory and Morrilton Plastics.

Her husband of 34 years Larry Akins, her daughter: Patrick Renea Akins, her grandson: Thurman Bateman Jr.; her parents: Fletcher Hall and Hazel Nichols; her brother: Curtis Brown; and her sister Gladys Turner all proceeded June in death.

Survivors are her two sons Larry Donnell (Dr. Kashawn) Akins of Cedar Hill, TX and Steven (Dr. Fay) Akins of Jacksonville, AR; one daughter: Tashia Akins of Augusta, AR; 11 grandchildren: Shaybrean, Essence, Alkeidrea, Eriona, Skyla, Steven Jr., Kaden, Morgan, Kordai, K'Leigh, and Kemiah; three great grandchildren; one brother: Lawrence (Angenette) Williams of Searcy, AR; one sister: Linda Murphy of Augusta, AR a brother-in-law Ronnie Akins of Maumelle, AR; one sister-in-law Bertha Akins of Jacksonville, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Holy Ghost Academy Church of God in Christ, 927 South 4th Street in Augusta.
