Jim Coleman Sr., 83 of Pine Bluff, passed away on August 31 at Central Veterans Healthcare System Hospital in Little Rock.
Jim was born on December 8, 1941 to Henry Ezkiel Coleman and Willie Estelle Harris-Coleman in Holly Grove Arkansas.
Jim also known as "Paw-Paw" was raised in Holly Grove and received his education from the Holly Grove Public School System. He was a 1959 graduate of Holly Grove Vocational School. He went on to continue his education by attending AM&N College in Pine Bluff (currently UAPB), where he earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology.
At an early age Jim was baptized and joined St. James AME Church in Pine City. Arkansas. In recent years he was a member of the Old Morning Star Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. He enjoyed attending Bible Study Groups at Damascus MB Church and Pleasant Grove MB Church also in Pine Bluff.
Jim was drafted into the Untied States Airforce in the 1960's during the Vietnam era. He received an honorable discharge for his service.
Jim was employed as an Engineer on the Cotton Belt Railroad for more than 25 years before retiring.
His parents Henry Coleman and Willie Estelle Coleman, his siblings; James Coleman, Henry Coleman, Wilbur Coleman, Rebecca Fears and Blonzell Campbell all proceeded Jim in death.
Survivors are his sons; Jim (Kysha) Coleman Jr. of Olive Branch, MS; Zelotis Wofford of Stuttgart, AR; and Mario (Brigette) Brown of Memphis, TN; daughters: Sonya (Lonnie Jr.) Arnold of Holly Grove, AR; and Brandi Coleman of Little Rock, AR; his grandchildren; Laila Arnold of Holly Grove, AR; Justin Lee, Kyra (Shawn) Mitchell and Jordanne Coleman all of Olive Branch, MS; and Matthew (Gahae) Warren of Philadelphia, PA; his brother: Willard Coleman Sr. of Holly Grove, AR,; two sisters: Lula Tyler of Holly Grove, AR and Betty Jean Coleman of Little Rock AR; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday evening September 5 PM from 8 PM at the Kingdom Builders Ministries, 400 North Pine Street in Holly Grove. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 2:00 PM at Kingdon Builders Ministries with Reverend Dennis W. Wilson serving as eulogist. Interment will take place at Hayes Cemetery in Holly Grove by C.J.
