Eleanore Eyvonne Dodson

Eleanore Eyvonne Dodson, age 71, of Searcy, formerly of Stuttgart, passed away peacefully at her home in Searcy on Thursday, May 21. Born on January 4, 1955, in Searcy, Arkansas, she was the beloved daughter of Clementine Williams. In 1973, she married Wilfred Dodson, who preceded her in death. Three beautiful children were born to this union.

Affectionately known as "Bun" or "Bee," Eleanore was raised in the faith at St. Mary Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Searcy. After marrying and relocating to Stuttgart, she attended Holy Benton Temple Church of God in Christ for a period. Later, she and her family joined Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Stuttgart, where she was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend Bobby Brasfield. In her later years, after returning to Searcy, she reunited with her original church home, St. Mary CME Church.

Eleanore was raised in Searcy, where she attended White County Training School. She graduated from Searcy High School in 1973. . During her time at Searcy High School, Eleanore discovered her talents in sewing and gardening, skills that would foster a lifelong love of creativity and growth. She furthered her education at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, where she obtained training and certification in Early Childhood Development in the early 1990s.

Eleanore dedicated many years to serving as a teacher at the Stuttgart Headstart Program until her retirement. Over the years, she has also worked for several other businesses in the Stuttgart area.

Eleanore's unwavering commitment to education inspired those around her, showing that perseverance and hard work could overcome any obstacle. Despite encountering numerous challenges, she remained a shining example of faith and resilience. In her later years, Eleanore returned to her roots and cared for her family members, including her mother. Enjoying a more relaxed pace of life, she was often surrounded by loved ones, sharing stories and spreading joy. Her warm and nurturing spirit earned her the affectionate nickname 'Aunt Bee' among the many children she helped care for.

Eleanore's legacy is one of unwavering kindness, compassion, and inspiration. She leaves an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her, remembered for her gentle heart and the joy she brought to those around her.

Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred Dodson, her mother Clementine Williams, her siblings Shiela Young and Herbert Williams, and her sister-in-law Sharon Dodson.

She is survived by her son, Omar (Lisa) Dodson Sr. of Mesa, AZ; her daughters, Melika (Kevin) Dodson of Searcy, AR, and LaKeesha (John III) Rycraw of Fort Worth, TX. Her grandchildren include Adrianna Dodson of Little Rock, AR; Olivia Metzgar of Jonesboro, AR; Omar (Jezz) Dodson Jr. of Cleveland, OH; John Rycraw IV of San Diego, CA; Charles Rycraw of Fort Worth, TX; Chelsea Dodson of Mesa, AZ; Chandler Dodson-Arnold of Searcy, AR; and Ella Rycraw of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Legend Dodson, N'Mari Dodson, and John Rycraw V; her brother Michael (Jeanette) Williams Sr. of Searcy, AR; her sister Melani Young of Searcy, AR; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A public viewing will be held on Saturday morning, May 30, from 10 AM to 11 AM at Saint Mary CME Church, located at 205 South Sowell Street in Searcy. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM at St. Mary CME Church, with Reverend Napoleon Davis serving as eulogist. Interment will be at Saint Olive Cemetery, 156 St. Olive Loop in Dewitt.
