Dennis Wayne Nelson age 61, of Fayetteville, formerly of Clarendon, died on Tuesday, December 26, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville after a lengthy illness.

Dennis was born October 29, 1962 in Clarendon, Arkansas to Freddie Mae Petty-Nelson and Harden Stewart.

Dennis received his education from the Clarendon Public Schools. He was a 1980 graduate of Clarendon High School. He also attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

Dennis proudly served in both the US Navy and the US Army.

Dennis was employed in the automotive service industry as a Mechanic for most of his life during which he developed remarkable skills in building, maintenance and auto repair.

All who had known Dennis, knew him as an inspiring mentor. He was a kind, loving and gentle human being with a great sense of humor. He was also a die-hard Arkansas Razorback's fan and loved music. He loved spending time with his family and his friends.

Dennis and his family relocated to the Fayetteville, Arkansas area in 2020, where he remained until his passing.

Dennis was preceded in death by grandmother Ethel Petty, his mother Freddie Mae Nelson-Holmon, his father Harden Stewart; his sister Linda Stewart, two brothers: Charles Petty and Gene Nelson.

Dennis is survived by wife Carol Nelson; children: Dennis Nelson Jr., Latoya Hammonds, Bryce Martin, Brodrick Piggee, Broox Piggee, Braxton Piggee, and Hunter Howton, a host of grandchildren; his siblings: Lawrence Nelson, William Nelson, Vernon Nelson, Vivian Nelson, Joyce Hampton, Charles Stewart, Patricia Stewart, Shirley Stewart and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles and aunts.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday afternoon, January 12 at 2 PM at Shady Grove Cemetery, Highway 86 in Clarendon with Reverend Willie Gilmore officiating by C.J.
