Clementine Brown

Clementine Brown, 80 of Searcy, formerly of Augusta, passed away on Saturday, Jun3 20 at her home.

Clementine was born February 20, 1946 in Fitzhugh, Arkansas to Johnny Wesson and Jessie Lee Murry.

As a child growing up in Fitzhugh and Augusta, Clementine or "Cle" as she was affectionately known, attended church services at New Holly Grove Baptist Church. In later years while living in Los Angeles, California, she became a member of Praises of Zion Church under the leadership of Pastor Joe B. Hardwick, until she returned to Augusta in the early 2000's.

Clementine received her formal education from the Augusta Public School System. She was a 1964 graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Augusta. After relocating to Los Angeles, California, she continued her education by attending Southwest College and earning certification as a CNA in 1966. She went back to Southwest College and earned a degree in Physical Therapy in 1970. And she eventually earned her certification as a Pulmonary Technician in 1978.

Clementine worked as a Pulmonary Technician at Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Hospital in Downey, California for more than 36 years before retiring in 2000. She returned to Arkansas in 2001.

Clementine was married to Finest L. Brown Sr. in 1964. To this union three children were born Kathy, Veronica and Finest Jr.

Her husband, Finest L. Brown Sr., her son Finest L. Brown Jr., her parents: Johnny Wesson and Jessie L. Murry; her siblings: Beulah Hardy, Betty Jean Ferguson, Helen Winston, Allen Murry, Jesse Willis Murry, James Murry, Booker T. Murry and Alex Murry Moore all preceded Clementine in death.

Survivors are: her daughters Kathy Brown of Searcy, AR; and Veronica Murry of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren: Kenneth Lyles and Leondra Brown both of Lakewood, CA; LeShondra (Marcell) Wagstaff of Houston, TX; Kenyan (Melissa) Lyles of Noble, OK; Helen Brown of Los Angeles, CA and Leshia Brown of Phoenix, AZ; eight great grandchildren; two brothers: Larry (Jeanne) Murry of Augusta, AR; and Donald (Eunice Mae) Murry of Searcy, AR; a sister Sharon and Robert Wren of Long Beach, CA; her godchildren: Laura Faye Marshall of Houston, TX; Joyce Green of Augusta, AR and Shangs Neal of Carson, CA; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 12:00 PM at New Holly Grove Baptist Church, 501 Main Street in Augusta with Reverend Lamar Wright serving as eulogist. Interment will take place at New Quiet Cemetery in Augusta by C.J.
